Kaluga

Birth place of modern cosmology, Kaluga is a city in western Russia. The Tsiolkovsky State Museum of the History of Cosmonautics has exhibits on space exploration and a planetarium. Also part of the museum is the nearby Tsiolkovsky Memorial House, the former home of rocket scientist Konstantin Tsiolkovsky. The Kaluga Museum of Fine Arts displays icons, plus Russian and European paintings.

St. Petersburg

Founded in 1703, by Peter The Great St. Petersburg is the 2nd largest city in Russia and housed Soviet Russia’s early rocket research laboratories. This port city on the Baltic city was the imperial capital for 2 centuries. One of the most modern cities in Russia, it is also called as the cultural capital of Russia.
